Mr Steve Olson

Steve is the President/CEO of MinnStar Bank N.A. He has been a House of Hope board member for 12 years. He is the Chairman of the Independent Bankers of Minnesota. Past Chairman, Minnesota Chapter, March of Dimes Board Member, City Center Partnership. Steve is a 1978 graduate of the University of North Dakota. He is married with two daughters. In his free time he likes to golf, fish, travel with his family, and work on remodeling projects around his house.

Kay L Wallweich
Vice Chair

Kay joined Farrish Johnson in 2001, after moving to Minnesota from Nebraska. She is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and focuses her practice in all aspects of business formation and business law; commercial real estate development, leasing and transactions; and employment law (employer). Growing up in a small town in central Nebraska, Kay knows the importance of the small to mid-sized business, their growth potential, and how that impacts the future make up of the community. Kay has experience in regulatory banking compliance and employment law relating to human resource issues.
Kay graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received her law degree from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha. Kay and her husband, Dan, reside in Mankato |
Mr. Mike Chapman
Secretary/Treasurer

Mike has served on the Board of Directors on and off for many years. He recently served as Interim Director for 5 months. During Mike's 41 years of corporate experience, he spent 21 years as Vice President of Human Resources for a major Twin Cities Financial Institution. The next six years were spent consulting with corporate entities on human resource related concerns. Sixteen years were spent with a regional accounting firm consulting with corporate clients on human resource projects as well as assisting in the administrative management of the firm. Currently he is President of Human Resource Strategies. |
Mr. John "Chuck" Peterson

Chuck has served on the Board of Directors since the early 1980's. Mr. Peterson has practiced law for 34 years and is a general partner in the law firm of Maschka, Riedy, & Ries in Mankato. His special interest in helping those with chemical addictions arose early in his legal career in defending those charged with criminal acts. He learned that addiction, in many instances, plays a major role in the commission of a wide variety of crimes. Mr. Peterson resides with his wife, Helen, on Madison Lake, Minnesota. |
Mr. Richard Nienow

Richard has recently moved to the Mankato area after returning from a career in production agriculture. He is also a marriage and family therapist. Richard has served on community boards including Immanuel Saint Joseph's Hospital, Maple River School Board, and the Blue Earth County Chemical Task Force. He maintains a keen interest in human behavior. He and his wife Tricia have three adult children. |
Dave Connor

Born and raised in Owatonna, Dave moved to Mankato in 1999. He is currently the Grocery and Produce Manager at Sam’s Club, where he has worked since 2001. He is active with local charity organizations, most notably, the Salvation Army, and the Anthony Ford Foundation. He is also active in the Mankato recovery community. In his free time, Dave enjoys playing in a recreational hockey league in the winter, playing golf in the summer, and tinkering on things around the house.
